Vocal Program

A ten day intensive vocal program in beautiful Quebec, Canada. A program for 15 to 20 professionally focused singers includes:

  • Opera Scenes
  • Opera and Song Performance
  • Chamber Music Performance

Classes Descriptions
Individual Voice Lessons
All levels
Individual instruction will be tailored to each students level of proficiency and will include work on technique, interpretation and music fundamentals. These lessons will assist each student in realizing his/her vocal potential through instruction in healthy vocal technique. They will also encompass work in developing dynamics, phrasing, breath control, and musicianship skills.
Vocal Repertoire Class Through the use of both popular and classical music, the students will develop stronger communication and musicianship skills. Along with ensemble singing, there will be use of theatre games to help further develop their self-confidence as performers.
Festival Chorus Open to all festival participants and community members. The Festival Chorus will perform the "Gloria" from Puccini's Messe di Gloria, Ralph Vaughan Williams' Serenade to Music and a group of Canadian folk songs under the direction of Alexander Dashnaw. Rehearsals will be held Monday through Friday of Festival Week, and a dress rehearsal with instruments. The Festival Choral Concert will be held on Saturday evening August 1. Chamber Ensemble Class Student prepares pieces in mixed ensemble with voice, violin, guitar, to be performed in student concert at end of week. Coaching by one of the faculty members.
